Pathibhara was originally an animist Limbu shrine, but after the Gorkha conquest, it came to be revered as a holy shrine by Hindus and Buddhists alike. The mountain is shaped like a pathi, which inspired the temple’s name (a grain container). Local Limbus revere it as a source of power and purity.

Pathibhara temple is well-known for its temple name ‘Pathivara Devi.’ Because this temple has religious significance, worshippers come from all over Nepal and India to pay their respects. Pathibhara temple tour is a must-do for any local devotee. The Pathibhara tour is ideal if you want to visit the Pathibhara temple, go on a rural walk, meet different cultures, and learn about the natural heritage of the Taplejung district.
